Public Safety Alert: Incident of Lewdness on Princeton D&R Canal Towpath

Princeton Police have issued a safety alert to the public that an incident of sexual indecency occurred on Monday, August 26th at approximately 5:50 p.m. An unknown male exposed himself to a female jogger on the D&R Canal towpath in the area west of Alexander Street. Immediately afterward, the unknown male fled the area and continued toward West Windsor. Patrols rushed and checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The male was described as wearing a black backpack, holding a sweatshirt in his hand, and covering his face. New Jersey State Park Police were notified of the incident and are investigating.

Please be careful and alert when jogging/walking through remote areas.

• Carry a mobile phone with you in case of emergencies
• Stay alert and pay attention to your surroundings
• Avoid jogging/walking alone if possible
• Know the area. Stay on marked trails and avoid venturing into unfamiliar or remote areas.
