Popcaan demands in a viral clip that Kendrick Lamar's music be turned off

Popcaan refused to listen to Kendrick Lamar when the rapper’s music was mentioned during a recent interview with Link-Up TV. In a clip of the moment circulating on social media, he appears in disbelief before demanding to know where the music is coming from. Finally, he asks for the song to be turned off and reaffirms his loyalty to OVO.

When one of Drake's fan pages posted the clip on X (formerly Twitter), fans had a mixed reaction. Many praised the Jamaican artist for standing up for his OVO collaborator, while others were more critical. One user wrote, “Drake fans don't even know Popcaan is OVO, they on here saying things like 'wow respect' and 'wow Drake got the streets' because Drake completely deleted him after taking his flow.” Another added, “The n****s in the comments wanna pretend they listen to Popcaan because he signed to Drake.”

His defense of Drake comes after Popcaan discussed his relationship with the Toronto rapper earlier this year. “Being close to Drake and the whole connection has gotten me a lot of attention,” he said GRAMMY.com while I talk to them over Zoom. “We have chemistry when it comes to music, and whatever we do, it’s always [about] Only [doing] something great… It's a very great connection and it's also very good for my culture.”
