Uttar Pradesh: Woman convicted of killing man and his two dogs in house fire

MASON COUNTY, MI – A Michigan woman faces decades in prison for setting a house fire in 2021 that killed a man and his two dogs.

Jeffery Grant of Fountain and his dogs died in the fire on November 22, 2021.

Hope Snyder, 43, of Kincheloe, was sentenced today in Mason County Court to 35 to 60 years in prison, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced.

“A lengthy prison sentence will never ease the pain and loss experienced by Mr. Grant's family, but it is a just measure of accountability for the heinous, violent acts that took his life,” Nessel said.

On November 22, 2021, Snyder set fire to Grant's house while he slept, resulting in his death and that of his dogs.

Text and Facebook messages revealed that there had been an argument between Grant and Snyder earlier that evening.

Snyder also told friends that she planned to steal Grant's truck and money and burn down his house. After setting the fire, she fled in Grant's truck and was arrested at Detroit Metro Airport.

Earlier this month, Snyder pleaded no contest to reduced charges of second-degree murder, first-degree arson and two counts of second-degree murder/second-degree cruelty to animals. She was originally charged with first-degree murder, which carries a life sentence.
