Father and son arrested for two separate attempted murders

WPTV's Tyler Hatfield captured bodycam footage of the moment a Port St. Lucie police officer found 53-year-old Michael Hronis at a fast-food restaurant on Southwest Village Parkway.

Police told WPTV that Hronis had recently taken an Uber to his old employer, TAMCO Group in Port St. Lucie. Police said he planned to shoot his former supervisor and two co-workers.

Police Chief Richard Del Toro of the Port St. Lucie Police Department told WPTV that Hronis was fired from TAMCO in July.

“He basically went there to take revenge on some people whose collapse he believes was responsible,” Del Toro said.

According to police, Hronis couldn't find his supervisor and decided to go to Burger King. When they arrived, officers found a firearm, ammunition and two loaded magazines on him, according to Del Toro.

“We're just grateful that he didn't do the thing he was going to do,” Del Toro said. “I'm grateful that everyone is safe right now.”

In a statement, TAMCO Group said:

This was a frightening and shocking situation. We are grateful that no one was injured and would like to express our gratitude to the police and detectives who quickly arrived on the scene. We are currently cooperating fully with local police. Our priority at this time is to ensure our staff are safe, feel secure and have the support and resources they need.

Hronis is charged with three counts of attempted murder and armed burglary.

Police told WPTV that Hronis' son, Joshua, was arrested in Connecticut just days before Monday's arrest for an Aug. 16 shooting outside the VYBZ Lounge.

Two people were injured in this attack.

Del Toro said he was also grateful for the two arrests and that his officers were trained to handle dangerous situations.

“I just attribute that to the grace of God,” Del Toro said. “This could have been a completely different situation.”
