FC Cincinnati surprises young fan by joining MLS in fight against childhood cancer

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – FC Cincinnati is participating in Major League Soccer’s efforts to fight childhood cancer.

In addition, the club’s goalkeeper gave a young fan a huge surprise.

Max recently paid a visit to FC Cincinnati, thinking he was just showing off the special “Kick Childhood Cancer” shirt that players will wear during pre-game and warm-ups when FC Cincinnati takes on CF Montreal at TQL Stadium on Saturday.

While preparing for the photo shoot, Max said that his favorite player on the team was goalkeeper Roman Celentano, and that's when the surprise came. Just a few moments later, during the photo shoot, there was a knock on the door. At that moment, Celentano entered the room.

Max and Celentano then presented the jerseys together. And as a bonus for meeting his favorite player, Celentano gave Max a signed ball.

Fans can support children with cancer by designing cards for them at the “Pre-match at the Park” in Washington Park. Yellow ribbons will be distributed in Washington Park and in the stadium at the fan stands. A special Kick Children's Cancer Scarf will be available for sale in the FC Cincinnati team shop. A portion of the proceeds will benefit local childhood cancer charities.
