Chiefs' Mecole Hardman doubts Bears QB Caleb Williams won't get “nervous”

Whether on the biggest stage at the Super Bowl or in a preseason game, playing in front of an NFL crowd can be nerve-wracking, especially for a rookie.

Apparently not for quarterback Caleb Williams, however.

Before his appearance in Week 2 of the preseason, Williams told quarterback coach Kerry Joseph that his nerves were at “zero” on the last episode of Hard hits: training camp with the Chicago Bears.

“I don't get nervous. Not since my first game in high school. [for Gonzaga] against Gillman,” Williams said.

During the fourth episode of Hard blows on On Tuesday night, Williams met with Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman to warm up before the teams' season finale. Hardman, who had heard of Williams' nervousness, jokingly expressed doubts about Williams' comments.

“I'm not going to lie, maybe you were lying when you said you didn't get nervous,” Hardman said during a brief chat with the young quarterback. “You're going to be nervous your first game in the NFL, brother.”

Williams responded quickly and with a smile on his face: “We'll see. I'll tell you. I'll tell you.”

The next time Williams takes the field will be his official professional debut, so Hardman will get his answer.

Chicago opens its season – and the Williams era – on Sunday, September 8, against the Tennessee Titans.
