How to rotate a video on any iPhone model

Sometimes your iPhone will automatically rotate videos the wrong way if you shoot them from a weird angle. Or, if you're as absent-minded as I am, you probably accidentally shot them upside down or sideways.

To fix this, you can manually rotate a video on your iPhone to the orientation you want. Below, I'll show you several ways you can do this in just a few minutes.

How do I rotate a video on my iPhone?

1. Rotate the video in the Photos app

Time required: 1 minute

Rotating a video on an iPhone running iOS 13 or later is pretty straightforward. Here's how:

  1. Open the Photos app on your iPhone. Select the video you want to rotate.
  2. Knock Edit in the upper right corner of the video.

  3. Tap the harvest symbol at the bottom of your screen.
  4. Tap the Rotate icon in the upper left corner.

Tap once, twice, and three times to rotate the video 90, 180, and 270 degrees, respectively.

  5. Knock Completed to save your changes.

The video rotation feature is only available in the Photos app on iOS 13 and later. If you have an older iPhone model and are unable to update your software, follow the other methods listed below.

2. Rotate videos with the iMovie app

This is a longer process to fix video orientation, but besides using Photos, it's the next best method I've found. iMovie is Apple's native app and comes pre-installed on all iPhones, so you don't need to install it separately. Follow these steps to rotate videos with iMovie:

  1. start iMovie on your iPhone.
  2. Knock Start new project > Film.Movie on iMovie
  3. Select the video you want to rotate and tap Create movie.Create movie imovie
  4. Use your thumb and index finger to rotate the movie preview. An arrow will appear on the screen to indicate the direction of rotation.
  5. Knock Completed in the upper left corner.shoot on iMovie
  6. Tap the Share button below.Export button on iMovie
  7. Knock Save or share video to save the new video to your iPhone or send it directly to the recipient.Save or share videos on iMovie

3. Use a third-party app

The above methods are enough to rotate a video easily, but if you want to make other changes to your video, you should opt for a third-party video editor that has multiple tools.

Here are some that I personally use and love. They are all available for download from the App Store.

CapCut

CapCut is a top choice among video editors. It also allows you to optimize settings like resolution, frame rate and code rate of your shot video. Follow these steps:

  2. Knock Click to importand select one of these two options: Import from albums or Import from the file browser. Import videos Rotate videos
