  • Check out the list of companies that will reduce their workforce in 2024.

After a brutal year of layoffs in 2023, companies have continued to cut jobs in technology, media, finance, manufacturing and retail this year.

Tech titans like IBM, Google and Microsoft, financial leaders like Goldman Sachs, Citi and BlackRock, entertainment giants like Pixar and Paramount, and corporate behemoths like Tesla, Dow and Nike have all announced layoffs. In August, auto companies Stellantis and GM joined the group, with GM laying off more than 1,000 employees, mostly in its software business.

According to a survey conducted in late December last year, nearly 40 percent of business leaders expected layoffs this year, according to ResumeBuilder. ResumeBuilder spoke to about 900 executives at companies with more than 10 employees. Half of those surveyed cited concerns about a recession as a reason for possible layoffs.

Another important factor cited by survey respondents was artificial intelligence. Around four in 10 executives said they would make layoffs if they replaced employees with AI. Dropbox, Google and IBM have already announced AI-related job cuts.

Here are the dozens of companies that have job cuts planned or already underway in 2024.
