Car crash near Manor leaves one dead and another injured

MANOR, Texas – The westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 290 are currently closed following a fatal crash early Wednesday morning.

At around 2:30 a.m., Manor police said a white Sprinter van and a small sedan were traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 290 when the sedan was allegedly struck from behind at an intersection.

The sedan reportedly crashed into a ditch next to the highway and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Manor police said the driver of the white Sprinter was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

While the investigation is ongoing, no one has been arrested. Travis County Emergency Services District 12 and Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services also responded.

Motorists are advised to avoid westbound US 290 from George Bush Street to Greenbury Drive until further notice. Officials are directing traffic in the area.
