Every former Steeler released on Cutdown Day 2024 in the NFL

The sad reality in the NFL is that thousands of players want to make a 53-man roster, but 1,184 players fighting for their spot on the roster received disappointing news at the end of the preseason. Tuesday was the day teams had to trim their rosters down to the 53-man limit. They are allowed 90 players during the offseason, meaning over 40 percent of the league will be cut at about the same time.

A certain number of released players will quickly find another chance, whether on a 53-man roster elsewhere or on a practice squad. But countless others will be left without a chance and forced to continue with their life's work.

Today I wanted to take a look at all the former Steelers who were released in the NFL. Some of the names will be familiar to everyone, including several former first-round picks. Others may require a little memory refresh. Some of the players only spent a few days or weeks with their respective teams, while others made significant contributions at one point in time.

Below is the list of former Steelers who were released. It was compiled from NFL.com's Roster Cuts Tracker. In total, I found 34 former Steelers among 20 NFL franchises.
