3 people arrested by Roswell police for human trafficking

The Roswell Police Department (RPD) has arrested three people for human trafficking in a large-scale, multi-jurisdictional law enforcement operation.

In addition to Roswell Police, several partner agencies were involved in the operation, which took place on August 22, including DeKalb County Police, Gwinnett County Police, Sandy Springs Police, Department of Homeland Security and Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Search and arrest warrants were executed at seven locations in the Atlanta metropolitan area, resulting in the arrest of Jeannot Joseph, 39, of Roswell, Qin Zhen, 48, of Sandy Springs, and Jinpei Li, 72, of Norcross, on charges of criminal activity and human trafficking for sexual and labor exploitation.

The investigation began in March when the RPD's Special Investigations Division uncovered a criminal enterprise operating out of various residences in Roswell and the greater Atlanta area, offering illegal massage services and prostitution. The latest operation also identified a new victim, in addition to the two victims previously rescued as part of the same investigation.

Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson and Police Chief James Conroy hailed the operation as a critical victory in the fight against human trafficking. “This operation is another important step in the City of Roswell's ongoing fight to eradicate human trafficking and illegal activity in our community,” said Mayor Wilson. Police Chief Conroy added, “This is more than just a victory for law enforcement; it is a significant step forward in our ongoing fight to protect the vulnerable and bring those who exploit them to justice.”

The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests and charges are expected. Authorities ask anyone with additional information to contact Detective Fields or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers Atlanta.
