CAPE GIRARDEAU, Missouri (KBSI) – A Cape Girardeau man was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to selling pounds of methamphetamine to informants.

U.S. District Judge Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. sentenced 57-year-old Dewayne K. Clark to 12 years in prison on Tuesday.

Clark pleaded guilty in May to two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to resell and one count of possession of fentanyl with intent to resell.

In his guilty plea, he admitted to selling two pounds of meth and 20 fentanyl pills to confidential informants working for investigators on March 23, 2023, for $8,000 in cash. On April 13, 2023, Clark sold the informants two pounds of meth and 40 fentanyl pills for $8,000, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri.

On May 10, during a court-ordered search of his home, investigators found over a pound of meth, 978 pills of fentanyl, 8 grams of cocaine, a stolen Glock pistol, a Smith & Wesson pistol and an AR-15-style pistol.

Clark admitted to selling meth and said his biggest customer was a woman who bought a pound every other month, the agreement states.

According to a court document, Clark also sold the informant a pound of meth and 20 fentanyl pills on March 10, 2023.

The Southeast Missouri Drug Task Force, the Mineral Area Drug Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations and the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Hunter prosecuted.
