Prison guard criticizes R. Kelly's lawsuit over leaked private emails

The prison officer is sued by R.Kelly about the alleged passing on of the singer’s emails and telephone records to a blogger, In contact can report exclusively.

According to court documents, the In contactThe prison official denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the lawsuit filed by the disgraced singer.

In response, the official, who worked at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, said they denied the claim that they obtained Kelly's confidential documents and sold them to bloggers. Tasha K.

She further argued that Kelly, 57, was “not in a place” where he should have an expectation of privacy. The officer said no actual harm was done to Kelly. She also argued that her conduct was neither egregious nor intentional.

The officer denied that Kelly was suffering from emotional distress and said she did not access computers without or with additional authorization.

The retired prison guard's attorney asked for all claims to be dismissed and demanded that Kelly not be awarded any compensation for his complaint.

Kelly was arrested in Chicago in July 2019. He then faced a separate criminal case in New York. He was found guilty on both counts. Kelly was sentenced to 20 years in the Illinois case and 30 years in the New York case.

In his lawsuit, Kelly claimed prison officials used the internal prison system to review his emails, visitor and phone logs. Kelly said he believed the information was sold to Tasha K, who then posted the information on her social media platforms. Tasha K denied having anything to do with illegal activity.

Kelly's lawyer said that Tasha K. “mobilized her large following to [Kelly] using the stolen information and caused chaos in [Kelly’s] private life, even the use of information to influence witnesses in [Kelly’s] Law enforcement. According to our knowledge, the stolen information was passed on to prosecutors in the US Attorney’s Office and used by them as a means of influencing witnesses against [Kelly].”

“The defendant United States of America has breached its duty of care towards [Kelly] when it granted countless BOP officials access [Kelly’s] to transmit confidential information without legal basis. The defendant United States of America knew that [one of the employees] And [the other prison workers] routinely retrieved [Kelly’s] “The company stole private information from its systems and shared it with third parties for financial gain, influence, or simply harassment,” the lawsuit states.

Kelly claimed that at least 60 prison guards had accessed his confidential files about the prison system.

The government denied allegations that it breached its duty of care toward the entertainer during his detention. A government lawyer acknowledged that there was an inspector general investigation into the unauthorized access to Kelly's information.

The government said the officer Kelly accused in his complaint was investigated but never charged.

The government's response also acknowledged that Tasha K. obtained information from the internal prison system. However, the attorney argued that all claims against the government should be dismissed. “The United States is not subject to institutional liability based on alleged widespread negligent practices or policies,” the response said.

Kelly is no longer incarcerated at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago. The singer was transferred to a facility in North Carolina last year. His release is scheduled for 2045.
