One of three victims of dating app robbery sentenced to prison

One of the men accused of a dating app robbery in Troy must now spend the next ten years in prison.

On Wednesday, 19-year-old William Camino of Troy was sentenced to 10 years in prison and five years of probation upon release in connection with his guilty plea on July 24, 2024, to first-degree robbery, a Class B violent felony.

On February 18, 2024, Camino's co-defendant contacted the victim through a dating app, Tinder, and set up a fake date with him in order to rob him. Camino and two co-defendants met the victim in the city of Troy and robbed him at gunpoint, stealing his cell phone and wallet.

Co-defendant Terry Adams is currently in the Rensselaer County Jail and the other co-defendant, Karina Carroll, also pleaded guilty to the charges in July and will serve a five-year sentence in state prison with five years of probation.
