Traffic checks lead to drug arrests

Barton County Sheriff's officers arrested two people during a routine traffic stop at the intersection of 11th and Williams around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Following a traffic stop on Tuesday, August 27, another arrest was made.

On August 25, officers stopped a 2002 Chevrolet Blazer for a traffic violation. According to a news release from the Barton County Sheriff's Office, the driver and passenger were acting suspiciously, which prompted officers to call Menta, the Sheriff's Office's detection dog. When the dog was deployed, it indicated the presence of controlled substances. Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.

Arrested at the scene were Devin Sullivan, 63, of Great Bend, and Jennifer Willenberg, 41, also of Great Bend. Both were charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp. Both have since posted $10,000 bail and have been released.

On August 27, at approximately 4:15 p.m., BCSO officers conducted a traffic stop on US 281 near mile marker 102, south of the city of Great Bend. Officers searched the vehicle for probable causes and found suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Arrested at the scene was Morgan Sallabedra, 24, of Great Bend. Sallabedra was transported to the Barton County Jail without incident and arrested on charges of cocaine possession, marijuana possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and no drug tax stamp. She has since posted $10,000 bail and has been released.
