Reading Police Department arrests and charges Wilmington man with drunk driving

READING – Police Chief David Clark reports that Reading police have arrested a Wilmington man and charged him with driving under the influence.

NATHAN NELSON, 41 years old, of WILMINGTON, was arrested and charged with the following:

  • OUI Spirits
  • Red light violation

On August 9th at approximately 9:50 p.m., Reading Police officers responding to Main and Woburn Streets observed a gray 2022 GMC Canyon fail to stop at a red light.

Reading police activated their blue lights and conducted a vehicle stop.

The officers spoke to the driver of the vehicle and concluded that he NELSON.

A preliminary investigation based on an on-site sobriety test revealed that NELSON was under the influence of alcohol. During the sobriety test on site it was determined that NELSONHis blood alcohol level was 0.149 per mille, almost twice the legal limit.

NELSON was arrested without incident.

NELSON was arraigned in Woburn District Court on August 12.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
