Why this teacher's “No Cupcake” video went viral

An Illinois teacher went viral after posting a TikTok video explaining why she doesn't like her students bringing cupcakes to class as “birthday gifts.”

Ann Brackemyer, a kindergarten teacher with the TikTok name “kbcrayons,” said in the Aug. 2 video post that she loves celebrating birthdays in her classroom, but cupcakes aren’t such a great option.

“I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but please don't bring cupcakes,” Brackemyer told parents in the TikTok video, which has been viewed over 2.4 million times. “They make a huge mess and the kids honestly don't like eating them that much.”
