Paris Hilton sparks backlash after fans notice one thing in her new video of baby Phoenix

Paris Hilton is used to being under the public eye, and now that she's a mother herself, the attention often turns to her children. She just released an adorable new video of her 19-month-old baby Phoenix, and the backlash wasn't long in coming. Concerned fans noticed one thing about the video, and they weren't afraid to speak out.

It started with a video The simple life Alumna took to TikTok this week to show her son hanging out on a boat. “Explore the Sunreef Catamaran with Phoenix! 🥹🛳️,” she wrote over the video, which shows Phoenix on the boat. He's in the vacation spirit in a maroon button-down shirt and matching shorts. The cute barefoot fan toddle around the moving boat, walking on a net that you can see the water flowing underneath.

Phoenix is a child on a mission, wandering around the catamaran and even saying “mama” at one point in his sweet little voice. “Watching Phoenix explore the world has been so special to me! 🥹✨ I'm so grateful to be a #SlivingMom 💖✨,” Hilton captioned the video.

At several points in the short clip, Phoenix is separated from the water below only by the net he's walking on and a thin rope bridge on the sides. Fans were concerned for the little guy as he wasn't wearing a life jacket.

“Mommy please tell him to always wear a life jacket on a boat!! These things happen. That's why they're called accidents. Love 🥰,” one person wrote. Another said, “I know my heart sank the whole time. When I saw this. He is definitely a blessed little boy.”

“I'm so upset to see him not in a life jacket! You can never be too safe on the water!” said someone else. Another said: “He is so cute. 🥰 Please please put a life jacket on him they run away so fast and the edges are open to the water. I say this because it really matters to me. ❤️❤️❤️”

We don't usually like it when people bully other mothers or tell them how to raise their children, but in this case the commenters may be right. Even children who are good swimmers can get caught in an undercurrent or have trouble in deep water, which is why it is important to always put them in life jackets. In fact, there are laws regarding children and life jackets, many of which require that children ages 12 and under must wear one at all times (check your state HERE).

We also love how gentle and kind people were with their corrections. No mom knows everything, and no mom is perfect – if you do decide to point out a safety issue, it's important to always do so kindly.

And Hilton responds well to the kind, honest comments. Like earlier this year, when she shared a video of Phoenix and her nine-month-old daughter, London, whom she has with husband Carter Reum, sitting in their forward-facing car seats. They reminded her that the law requires babies to be rear-facing for at least two years, and that the seatbelt should not be fastened over regular belts. The “Stars Are Blind” singer clearly took those moments to heart, because she shared another video of the children sitting rear-facing, buckled in only with the car seat's 5-point harness.

“Thanks for the mom advice, I’m new here ☺️,” she wrote as a caption under the video.

She hasn't yet responded to the comments about the life jackets, but knowing how much Hilton loves her children, we know she wouldn't do anything that would knowingly put her children in danger. You can tell how much she loves them by how happy those babies are in every video, and that really warms our hearts.
