Bodycam video of dog shooting at police officer in Iowa released – father wants police officer to go to jail

Davenport police have released a bodycam video showing an Iowa police officer shooting a dog in front of two children. The officer's actions were legal, they say. The dog's owner, however, sees things quite differently.

Police released the footage Wednesday along with the shooting officer's report, which said the drooling dog aggressively confronted him, bared its teeth and repeatedly snapped at him. The video clearly shows the dog charging at the frightened officer, who Our Quad City News described as Ethan Bock.

The owner of the dog, Don Hessellinesays TMZ … Bock should be criminally charged and thrown in jail for killing his lover Myst.

Don says Myst only started barking at Bock after the officer drew his service weapon and started shooting. He is adamant that Myst never attacked the officer, even though the bodycam video shows otherwise.

The fatal shooting was also captured by a surveillance camera that captured Don's 7-year-old son. lonerand the boy's cousin, also 7, witnessed the horrific event.

Don says Maverick will be scarred for the rest of his life as he walks around their house calling for his dead dog.

We're told Maverick even has trouble sleeping…the boy screams into his pillow and pretends his stuffed animal is Myst.

Before the tragedy, Don says, his son was a carefree boy. But now Maverick sits there with a scowl on his face… and Don is almost certain the boy needs therapy.
