Man shot and set on fire in West Philadelphia apartment; 2 suspects arrested

A 40-year-old man was in critical condition Wednesday after he was shot and set on fire in a West Philadelphia apartment.

Two suspects, a 38-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman, were arrested, according to Philadelphia's ABC 6. Their relationship to the victim is unclear.

The injured man was taken to Jefferson University Hospital, where he is being treated for gunshot wounds and burns to his body.

Police said they were called around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday about a person screaming in an apartment in the Carroll Park neighborhood of West Philadelphia. When they arrived, they found the victim engulfed in flames, CBS News reported.

Authorities believe the 38-year-old man shot the victim and the woman then set him on fire.

The police did not release the names of those involved and were still investigating on Wednesday evening.
