Updates on Uchenna Nwosu, Abraham Lucas and other Seahawks injuries by John Schneider

Perhaps the most significant move for the Seahawks in reducing their roster to 53 players was the decision not to place outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu on the injured list and not to play him.

Nwosu, who injured his knee in Saturday's final preseason game, is currently on the 53-man roster – theoretically, the Seahawks could put him on the injured list at any time between now and the season opener – and general manager and president of football operations John Schneider said he doesn't expect that to change.

“We hope so,” Schneider said when asked if Nwosu would be back on the field soon. “Anyone who has spent time with Chenna knows that he is a professional now. The guy approaches every day the way you would expect any professional football player to. He will do whatever it takes to get back.”

Since Nwosu is not on the injured list and would have to miss four games, he is not necessarily ready for Week 1.

“I don't know,” said Schneider. “It's too early for that. He's made progress. It's an injury that you have to live with day by day.”

Artie Burns also had to leave the game on Saturday due to injury, but was back on the field on Wednesday.

“He took a few hits in practice today, but he responded,” Schneider said. “It's a toe thing, but it didn't seem too bad.”
