UFC's Dana White announces upcoming fight against Conor McGregor

It looks like Conor McGregor might fight in the UFC this year after all.

While promoting “Power Slap: Road To The Title” late Wednesday night at UFC headquarters in Las Vegas, Nevada, UFC general manager Dana White was seen glancing at an invisible wall and revealing that a fight announcement could be on the way for MMA’s biggest star, Conor McGregor.

White did not reveal any details about whether or not McGregor has an opponent, but did mention that there will be news soon from Michael Chandler, his TUF 31 opponent.

“We talked about Conor [McGregor] today,” said White. “We'll have news about Conor soon.”

McGregor has not fought since 2021, facing former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier twice. McGregor suffered a severe leg fracture in their UFC 264 fight in July that kept him out of action, along with complications with USADA.

The news comes weeks after White announced that McGregor will not fight this year, but plans may very well have changed.

McGregor and Chandler were originally scheduled to face each other at UFC 303, but a toe injury forced McGregor to pull out of the main event about three weeks earlier. The fight has not been postponed since.

McGregor's last win was in January 2020 against Donald Cerrone, and if he doesn't fight until December or January 2025, it will be over eight years since his last title fight.

This story is still developing, MMAKO will continue to report on it as new news becomes available.
