DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – An assistant football coach at St. Pius X Catholic High School in Chamblee is among 17 people arrested last week in an undercover commercial sex trafficking investigation.

“Unfortunately, the Internet today is rife with commercial sex websites where you can essentially solicit someone to perform sexual acts for money,” GBI Special Agent in Charge Ryan Hilton told Channel 2's Tom Regan.

According to Hilton, the GBI has teamed up with local police for “Operation Wrong Room.”

Investigators say Larry Bruce Moyer, a Duluth resident and high school assistant coach, met with a person he believed to be a prostitute at a Chamblee motel last Wednesday.

“The man is recruited and taken to a location to perform this sexual act for payment. That's where he was arrested,” Hilton said.

Moyer is charged with pimping, a misdemeanor. That was the charge most of those arrested faced when they arrived at the motel. Two were charged with pimping.

“When we call girls or women who may be potential victims of human trafficking, sometimes their pimp shows up. Under Georgia law, you are guilty of pimping if you bring someone to a specific location for an act of prostitution,” Hilton said.

Hilton, special agent in charge of the GBI's Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit, says that during their deployment they also helped 15 potential victims of human trafficking escape the commercial sex trade.

“When they arrive in our area of operations, we direct them to resources, counseling, housing and other services,” Hilton said.

Hilton said law enforcement also seized more than $255,000 from suspected traffickers during two home raids in Georgia.
