Viral video: Virat Kohli's deepfake video criticising Gill goes viral on X | News

Deepfake video of Virat Kohli goes viral

Recently, a deepfake video went viral on social media in which Virat Kohli is seen criticizing Indian opener Shubhman Gill. In the viral video, Virat talks about Shubhman Gill, mentioning his shortcomings and questioning his potential in cricket.

The AI-generated video raised concerns about the misuse of the technology and its potential dangers.

In the video that went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter), Virat Kohli explains, “I have watched Gill closely. He is talented, no question, but there is a huge difference between promising talent and the legend.”

“When we came back from Australia, I found out what it takes to succeed at the highest level. I've watched Gill closely. He's talented, no question. But there's a big gap between promising talent and the legend. Gill's technique is solid, but we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves,” the fake viral video ads say.

The viral video falsely shows Virat praising himself that there is only one Virat Kohli. “I have faced the toughest bowlers, delivered in the most intense situations and have done so consistently for over a decade. You can't replicate that with just a few good innings,” the video continues.

This video was shared on August 27. Since its publication, it has received more than 300,000 views. The post also has almost 4,000 likes. Many people took to the comment section of the post and shared their reactions.

One user wrote: “No matter how arrogant people think he is, he will never say that.”

“If you hadn't said AI, I would have thought what!? I trust her 95%. After saying it, AI, I still think 50%,” another person wrote.

One of the users noted that it was not Virat's voice and wrote, “I am still half asleep and I still know that Virat does not speak like that and that this is not even his voice.”

“It’s only a matter of time before an AI-generated video also seems completely true,” one user jokingly wrote.

This is not the first time that Virat Kohli has fallen victim to deepfake technology. Earlier in February this year, a video went viral in which he was seen promoting a betting app called ‘Aviator’ that promises high profits with minimal investment.
