PS5 Pro design leak showcases console and announcement window

With the State of Play event in September fast approaching, anticipation for the PS5 Pro is at its peak. There have already been many reports about the PS5 Pro as well as some leaks from reliable sources. However, according to a reliable source named billbil-kun, we now have the official name for the next PS5 model. We also have the announcement window and a design reveal sketch of the PS5 Pro.

PS5 Pro design and announcement window

According to the report, we now have the first design update on the PS5 Pro. The design shows that the PS5 Pro is quite similar to the PS5 Slim. A similar white color to the previous PlayStation is the theme. It is also mentioned that there will be 2 USB-C ports and the power button on the front of the console.

In addition, the outer part of the front panel remains the same as the PS5 Slim. The most noticeable change is the middle part, where three black stripes are visible. Source billbil-kun also mentions that the front panels could be interchangeable between the PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro. As obvious as it may sound, the PS5 Pro is bulkier than the PS5 Slim.

One thing that could be a dealbreaker is that There are no floppy disk drives. Or at least for the version that the sources may have gotten their hands on. The reports claim that the PS5 Pro will only be available as a digital version. They also mentioned that it would be difficult to find a disc version of the console if it matches the design they saw. This is a very similar situation to the PS5 Slim, and if they want to stay competitive in the market, Sony may opt for a digital-only version.

Fortunately, there will be no controller change for the next PS5 console, so if you use a Dualsense controller, you're good to go. The reports also claim that the same controller will also be included in the PS5 Pro package. According to billbil-kun, Sony could make an announcement for PS5 Pro in the first half of September 2024However, the plans may change according to Sony's will.

Given the recent leaks regarding the PS5 Pro's price, the situation of the PS5 being digital-only might be a little worrying. Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb recently suggested that the next PS5 could be priced at $600 or even as high as $700. It is still expected that Sony could bring the price down to a desirable level considering the overall sales of the PS5.

So what do you think of the PS5 Pro design? Are you looking forward to the PS5 Pro announcement window? Let us know in the comments below.
