Kalamazoo County Sheriff investigates armed home invasion incident

OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office is investigating an armed home invasion.

At approximately 7:43 a.m. Thursday, the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an armed burglary at a home on Mount Royal Drive near the Concord Place Apartments in Oshtemo Township.

Upon their arrival, officers found that an unknown man armed with a firearm had forcibly entered the victim's apartment.

When the suspect entered the house, the victim called 911, but officials say the suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Although a canine unit rushed to the scene, the suspect could not be found.

The suspect was described as a man of unknown race wearing a dark ski mask, dark shirt and jeans. The suspect was armed with a black handgun, officials said.

The victim, who was the only resident of the house, was not injured in the incident.
