How streaming service prices affect New Yorkers

I have a question for you. Do you feel like you spend a lot of money on streaming services? Yes, me too. Did you know that a new study has uncovered secret price increases on subscriptions?

Topping the charts are Apple TV+ and Disney+, which have planned an average annual price increase of 18% since their launch in November 2019.

Subscribers were astonished when prices for Apple TV+ rose from $4.99 to $9.99 and for Disney+ from $6.99 to $13.99 over the last five years. Now that's a real price shock!

Netflix isn't far behind, with a 5.4% annual price increase. In 2001, the price was $7.99, and in 2024, it's risen to $15.49. This way, you let the price rise slowly so you don't really notice it, but over time, it adds up. Dripping, dripping, dripping!

Peacock and Hulu are no exception. Peacock's prices have increased by 5.3% annually in the three and a half years since its launch, while Hulu has increased its prices by an average of 5% annually since 2015.

Are there any streaming services that don't increase their subscription prices? Good news, Crunchyroll is sticking with it. Since launching in August 2020, they've kept their subscription price stable at $7.99. That's a price consistency that deserves applause in the wild world of streaming services!

With subscription costs constantly rising, this is a warning to all of us. Stay up to date with the changes in the streaming world and get the most for your money.
