Police search for man after double shooting in Ahoskie

AHOSKIE, NC (WITN) – Police in an eastern North Carolina city are searching for a man who shot and killed two people Wednesday night.

Police say they were called to the 300 block of West Church Street in Ahoskie around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening after receiving a call about a shooting. When they arrived, officers found two people shot.

One of the people injured in the shooting was treated at ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, the other was taken to Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia for further treatment.

According to Ahoskie Police, the man being sought is 20-year-old Maurice Baum Jr. of Elizabeth City.

Baum was charged with burglary with intent to terrorize and two counts of attempted premeditated murder.
