The unidentified 31-year-old fell onto the tracks at the 15 W. 79th St. station around 1 a.m. Tuesday and injured himself, the Cook County coroner's office and police said.

He was taken to Chicago University Hospital with physical injuries, where he was pronounced dead at 11:22 p.m. on Tuesday, police and the medical examiner's office said.

An autopsy on Wednesday revealed that the cause of death was electrocution from the power rail, according to the medical examiner, who ruled his death a homicide.
