Hawaii's gas prices remain stable while costs continue to fall across the country

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – While gasoline prices are falling across the U.S., gasoline prices in Hawaii are holding steady, averaging lower than last year.

It is a certain relief for drivers, as they now have to pay a little less for fuel.

The national average price of gasoline fell two cents from last week to $3.36.

According to the latest AAA report, the national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline is currently $4.65.

These were the average prices for regular unleaded petrol on the islands:

  • Honolulu: $4.50 (16 cents lower than last year)
  • Hilo: $4.84 (5 cents lower than last year)
  • Kahului: $4.70 (11 cents lower than last year)
  • Lihue: $5.25 (3 cents lower than last year)

Gas prices in Hawaii are still lower than they will be in 2023.

Industry experts had previously predicted a decline in gas prices this year after they hit record highs last year.

Experts added that the current falling gasoline prices could also be due to fewer people taking to the streets.
