DeAndre Hopkins injury update: Latest news on Titans WR's practice participation

The Tennessee Titans hope to get star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins back in time for their Week 1 game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, September 8, but his status remains uncertain.

The good news is that the Titans seem optimistic that Hopkins will indeed return from his injury for the season opener. The veteran wide receiver was originally diagnosed with a knee strain and given a timetable to return in four to six weeks.

As of Wednesday, August 28, we are four weeks into his recovery, so there is a chance he could return soon. Last week, head coach Brian Callahan announced that the team is targeting Hopkins to return in Week 1, according to ESPN's Turron Davenport.

When the Titans returned to practice this week, Callahan provided an update on Hopkins' practice participation and his status for Week 1.

Latest information on DeAndre Hopkins' injury

Update from Thursday

According to Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com, Callahan stated he is still confident Hopkins will be ready for Week 1. As for his participation in Thursday's practice, Hopkins did not participate.

Wednesday Update

According to ESPN's Turron Davenport, head coach Brian Callahan announced that Hopkins did not practice on Wednesday.

That's not great news, of course, but the Titans still have one more week of practice before their season opener against the Bears, and thanks to his extensive experience in the NFL, Hopkins doesn't need much time to prepare.

Hopkins is coming off a season where he showed he's still in top form. After a slow start, DHop came through when quarterback Will Levis was inserted as the starter.

The future Hall of Famer caught 75 passes for 1,057 yards and seven scores in his first season in the two-tone blue. He was Levis' first choice and now gets the opportunity to play with the young playmaker for a full season.

Hopkins will face significantly more competition for opposing passes next season after the signings of Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd, but the Titans will also throw significantly more football as they move to a more modern offense under Callahan.
