Based in Baton Rouge Alluwee Productions was one of the executive producers of Reagana new biopic about Ronald Reagan starring Dennis Quaid.

The film, which was released in theaters on Friday, traces Reagan's journey from Hollywood to the Oval Office. Penelope Ann Miller plays the role of Nancy Reagan alongside Quaid.

Patrick Mulhearn, an industrial consultant who is managing director of Celtic Studios from 2009 to 2017, tells Daily report that Alluwee – a client of his – considers the film’s opening weekend a success. It grossed more than $10 million at the box office over the four-day Labor Day weekend, coming in fourth behind Deadpool and Wolverine, Alien: Romulus And It ends with us.

Reagan has exceeded all expectations,” says Mulhearn.

Shot with a budget of $25 million, Reagan was independently financed and produced after a number of major Hollywood studios rejected the project. Mulhearn calls the film “proof of how independent film financing can work outside the studio system.”

Reagan has been well received by the general public so far; it is currently available at 98% audience rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. However, critics were less receptive. Of the 50 reviews evaluated by Rotten Tomatoes, only 20% were positive.

While Reagan is Alluwee's first project, Mulhearn writes on LinkedIn that future projects are already in the works and that he “can't wait to share news about what's on the horizon.”
