The match will take place during a FIFA international period, allowing Mexico to field its best players to prepare for upcoming tournaments, including the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2026 World Cup.

This year's MexTour is now in its 21st year and includes five games in the United States – the most in the event's history. Other games include: May 31 vs. Bolivia (Chicago), June 5 vs. Uruguay (Denver), June 8 vs. Brazil (College Station, Texas) and September 10 vs. Canada (Arlington, Texas).

Mexico and New Zealand last met in March 2010 at the Rose Bowl, drawing a MexTour record crowd of 90,526. Mexico won that match 2-0, with goals from Javier “Chicharito” Hernández and Carlos Vela. Overall, Mexico leads the all-time championship with six wins, zero draws and one loss.

Notable New Zealand players who could be involved include Chris Wood, Sarpreet Singh and Michael Boxall.

Tickets are not yet available through official channels, but some are being sold on secondary markets at prices ranging from $97 to $998.

The game will be broadcast in Spanish on TelevisaUnivision and in English on Fox Deportes.
