New threat requires additional police in some districts on Friday

FOREST PARK, Ohio (WXIX) – Several school districts increased police presence and one district canceled classes Thursday as a precautionary measure amid investigations into a social media threat suggesting violence against a number of Cincinnati-area schools.

Now Forest Park police confirmed on Friday that there is a new, presumably related threat that requires additional police deployment in one of those districts.

According to Forest Park Police Sergeant Tim Goetz, Winton Woods high schools and middle schools on the north campus will be open Friday for the second day in a row under increased security, again as a precautionary measure.

Police believe this second threat may be related to the first and may come from the same person or persons, he said.

There will also be an increased police presence in the Oak Hills school district on Friday.

This all came after a shooting at a high school in the US state of Georgia on Wednesday left two students and two teachers dead and others injured.

Classes at Mt. Healthy City Schools were cancelled on Thursday, but reopening is scheduled for Friday.

They say the threat has been determined to be false.

“Other schools mentioned in the social media post had classes today without issues and we are confident we can continue,” the district said in a press release on Thursday.

Parents rely on their faith after threats against schools

Multiple law enforcement agencies have confirmed that they are investigating these threats.

The public is urged not to share the threatening post online as this could make it more difficult for law enforcement authorities to identify the person responsible.

Instead, report the incident to the police as soon as possible.
