Shrewsbury location is among the stores to be closed

SHREWSBURY – LL Flooring's Shrewsbury location is set to close permanently after the company, formerly known as Lumber Liquidators, announced a companywide closure of all locations as part of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, according to a letter from CEO Charles Tyson.

The site is located on Route 20, less than a mile west of the Route 9 interchange.

Last month, the company began winding down another location in central Massachusetts, in Leominster, one of 94 stores it planned to close at the time.

More than 300 stores, including the Shrewsbury store, remained open while the Richmond, Virginia-based company looked for a buyer to continue operating the business.

But in Friday's letter, Tyson wrote that negotiations “did not result in an offer.”

“It is with this heavy heart that we announce that we will begin winding down LL Flooring's operations and closing all of our stores,” Tyson wrote. “This is not the outcome we were all hoping for.”
