SBLive/SI Top 25 High School Football Scores, Friday Night Updates (9/6/2024)

The 2024 high school football season officially begins in all 50 states on Friday night (Sept. 6) with more than 6,000 games on the schedule. SBLive/SI provides you with live football scoreboards from every state, big game coverage, photo galleries, video highlights, recruiting analysis and more.

Seventeen of the top 25 teams in SBLive/SI's national high school football rankings are in action Friday night, including No. 1 Mater Dei against No. 2 Bishop Gorman in Southern California. This was the first big test for new Mater Dei head coach Raul Lara, who told SBLive/SI he applied for the job twice. Lara and Mater Dei passed with flying colors, winning 31-15.

“I went through the interview [after Bruce Rollinson retired in 2022]explained Lara. “I was one of the last candidates, but obviously they chose Frank. [McManus].”

“I firmly believe in the man up there, Jesus Christ. For me it is a blessing and an honor to be the head coach at Mater Dei,” Lara said.

The game features 21 college football players and 38 players rated 3 stars or better (Bishop Gorman with 20, Mater Dei with 18).

Stay with SBLive/SI all night for live updates from Bishop Gorman-Mater Dei and every top 25 high school football game:
