Rock M Nation Pick 'Em: Week 2

Week 2 of the college football season is here! Murray State has taken a small step forward as the No. 9 Missouri Tigers host Buffalo at Faurot Field for MACtion on Saturday night. Also, the first SEC conference game of the season will take place as the South Carolina Gamecocks take on the Kentucky Wildcats. ESPN's College Gameday and FOX's Big Noon Kickoff head to Ann Arbor as the No. 3 Texas Longhorns take on the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines to provide highlights of Saturday's schedule.

Let’s give some tips and take a look at the tables after Week 1.:

Quentin Corpuel (4-1)

Josh Matejka (3-2)

Sammy Stava (3-2)

Chad Moller (2-3)

Levi Hatter (2-3)

Sammy Stava, Editor: I didn't think Missouri would erase the 50-point lead against Murray State, but they did. That tells me Drinkwitz knows style points will be important when Mizzou is clearly in the mix for the 12-team playoffs at the end of the season. The Tigers will give up points in this game, but they will make up for it. We're expecting a final score of 48-10.

Chad Moller, Editor: I didn't pick Mizzou to win last week either, not because I thought they were inept, but because 50 is so hard to get to. I thought the line was spot on, which made it a gamble. I also think this week the line is spot on, so again it's hard to predict. Drink has the Lou Holtz talk down perfectly, he's stated publicly that he prepares for his starters to play the whole game. If I remember correctly, he also said before last Thursday that Murray State was the toughest season opener he had at Mizzou. I have a feeling it would be a 42-13 win, but that's not enough to win, so I guess I'll take the points even though I don't like it.

Sammy Stava: Based on the results of the first week, Texas easily beat Colorado State 52-0 and Michigan struggled a little against Fresno State, winning 30-10. The Longhorns look to be the better team and will get their first big win as an SEC member, 28-24.

Chad Moller: The teams come into this with contrasting emotions. Tejas was a stunner in its opener against Colorado State, while Michigan was underwhelming in its first attempt to defend its title against Fresno State. Michigan used a QB rotation in Week 1, and I'm a believer in the “if you have two QBs, you don't have just one QB” theory. While the Wolverines' defense is excellent, I think the Longhorns' speed will be tough to contain, and I'm predicting Texas 31, Michigan 20.

Iowa State at No. 21 Iowa (-2.5) (2:30 p.m. CST on CBS)

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Aug. 31 Illinois State at Iowa

Sammy Stava: The last time Iowa State played in Iowa City at Kinnick Stadium, the Cyclones won 10-7. The Hawkeyes will remember that. The CyHawk always seems to be close, and it will be that way on Saturday, but Iowa wins that game 17-14.

Chad Moller: Speaking of defense, Iowa is looking strong there once again, albeit just one game into the season. The Cyclones will be missing their best tackler from last year, who is out with a leg injury he suffered last week. That will allow Iowa's offense to score 19 points. The battle for the Cy/Hawk Trophy goes to the Hawkeyes, 19-9.

South Carolina at Kentucky (-10) (2:30 p.m. CST on ABC)

Sammy Stava: Exactly what Chad said when he said this was the ABC game at 2:30 p.m. The Wildcats are the better team and they're playing at home. 34-17, UK.

Chad Moller: Wait, what, that's the weekly ABC game? That's crazy. Kentucky 34, Carolina 14.

No. 14 Tennessee at No. 24 NC State (+7.5) in Charlotte (6:30 p.m. CST on ABC)

Sammy Stava: Based on the results of week one, Tennessee looks like the better team. The Wolfpack will make the game exciting since it's in Charlotte, but in the end, the Vols will win. 38-30.

Chad Moller: I think I saw that this one started at UT -4 and is now at -7.5. In Lee Corso's words, someone knows something. Volumes 45, Wolfpack 27.
