Badgers go all the way against TCU and end their winless drought | Breaking news

WACO, Texas – The Badgers finally managed to secure a win, overcoming a two-set deficit to beat TCU 3-2 (25-15, 27-29, 21-25, 25-16, 15-11) on Friday.

The Badgers recorded double-digit kills, including Sarah Franklin with 18. Devyn Robinson recorded 5 blocks, while Charlie Fuerbringer continued her fiery start with 43 assists.

Wisconsin's stars shined in the opening set. CC Crawford and Julia Orzol scored kills and an ace to give the Badgers a 10-5 lead, then Sarah Franklin added a kill to extend that lead.

Carter Booth and Devyn Robinson got in on the action later in the set and denied the Horned Frogs a win. Gulce Guctekin and Lola Schumacher made crucial defensive plays that gave the Badgers a scoring opportunity.

The second set was volleyball at its most entertaining, although the Badgers came out on top. After trailing 7-4, the Badgers scored three points in a row to tie the set. From that point on, neither team was more than two points ahead.

One thing that didn't show up on the scoresheet but made a difference was TCU's blockers. Even though they didn't always score, their strong play forced the Badgers to rebuild and often left them faltering.

The Horned Frogs built an early 5-1 lead in the third set by taking advantage of attack errors from Franklin and Booth. Wisconsin fought back to within one point but was never able to tie or take the lead. TCU scored three consecutive kills to win the set.

The Badgers were doomed by attacking errors in this set, of which they committed ten.

For the fourth time in a row, Wisconsin found itself with its back against the wall in the fourth set. But unlike the last few games, this time they got another set.

The Badgers came out of several exciting rallies well and made strong scoring runs. There was only one instance where TCU scored two points in a row. Meanwhile, the Badgers went on a 4-0 run in the middle of the set and ended it with a 3-0 run.

That momentum carried into the fifth set, where the Badgers opened with a 4-0 run that included an ace on Charlie Furbringer's opening serve.

That was the first of three aces the Badgers used to win the set. A service error by Evan Hendrix gave Wisconsin the match point.

The Badgers are back in action Saturday night starting at 7 p.m. CT when they face No. 23 Baylor.
