Packers QB Jordan Love apparently suffers lower leg injury in loss to Eagles

The extent of the Green Bay Packers’ opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles remains to be seen.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love suffered an apparent lower leg injury on the final drive of a 34-29 loss Friday night in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Head coach Matt LaFleur did not provide an update after the game and, when asked about Love's status, twice said, “I don't know.”

Love was tackled with a high-low foul by two Eagles defenders as he attempted to extend a 1st-and-10 play from the Packers' 49-yard line. He bounced laterally to running back Josh Jacobs just before he was hit. Love remained on the field and received medical attention before limping off the field with assistance.

Love, who completed 17 of 34 passes for 260 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the game, was seen heading to the locker room after the game, but he was helped there too.

Backup Malik Willis, acquired less than two weeks ago from the Tennessee Titans, took over the game's final two plays. He threw an incomplete pass and was then sacked, ending the game.

Love, 25, a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, arrived in late 2023 to lead Green Bay to a playoff berth and an upset win over the Dallas Cowboys. The quarterback's improved play led to a massive contract extension and equally big ambitions for the Packers in 2024.

Now Green Bay and its fans will collectively hold their breath and wait for news on Love.
