PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon was ranked No. 3 to start the season, but fell to No. 7 after a disappointing 24-14 win over Idaho in the opening game. Oregon (1-0) managed nearly 500 yards of offense against the Vandals, but the Ducks struggled to score points in what was expected to be a debacle. Boise State opened with a 56-45 win over Georgia Southern. The Broncos (1-0) have won all three previous meetings with the Ducks.

KEY GAME

Against Oregon, Idaho benefited from a poor performance by the Ducks' offensive line, which allowed three sacks and struggled to create gaps for Oregon's run, which accounted for just 137 yards against the Vandals. At the same time, Boise State's defense left a lot to be desired against Georgia Southern, allowing a total of 461 yards and 45 points. The Broncos forced four fumbles but recovered one.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Idaho: The Vandals have a Heisman candidate in running back Ashton Jeanty, who rushed for 267 yards and six touchdowns in the opening game, both new school records. Last season, he scored 19 touchdowns (14 receptions and five rushing) and averaged 159.7 all-purpose yards per game, second best in the nation.

Oregon: Quarterback Dillon Gabriel, also a Heisman candidate, was statistically solid in his debut for the Ducks, completing 41 of 49 passes for 380 yards. His 41 completions were a career-high and tied the Oregon record. He connected twice with receiver Tez Johnson for touchdowns.
