Georgia Tech will play as a nationally ranked team for the first time in nine years when play begins at noon Saturday at Syracuse.

The Yellow Jackets (2-0, 1-0 ACC) entered the Associated Press Top 25 at No. 23 on Tuesday. They were last listed on the list at the start of the 2015 season.

Coach Brent Key's team is coming off wins against Florida State in Dublin, Ireland, and at home against Georgia State. Saturday's game is Tech's first real road game of the season and only their second visit to Syracuse, New York.

The Orange defeated Ohio 38-22 at home last Saturday under the leadership of former Georgia assistant coach and new coach Fran Brown.

College and Pro Football Hall of Fame member Dwight Freeney will have his jersey retired during a halftime ceremony on Saturday. Freeney finished his Syracuse career second in program history with 34 sacks and recorded more than 50 tackles for loss in his career. He was named an All-American in 2001 after setting the program's single-season record with 17.5 sacks.
