Confidence in the Chargers is high before Week 1

On Wednesday, we conducted our first SB Nation Reacts poll to see what the current level of confidence in the Chargers is as we enter Week 1. According to our results, 92 percent of respondents say they have confidence in the team's current direction.

That's about where I would have thought it would be. The hype and energy around this team is palpable. The majority of fans are throwing caution to the wind and betting on the beginning of the Jim Harbaugh era. I mean, why not? The guy just won everywhere he went. But we're talking about the Chargers. It's different here. A lot of former coaches seemed set up to win in San Diego/Los Angeles, and they didn't.

In my opinion, those who said they don't have a lot of confidence in the direction of the team are simply keeping their mental state in a safe place until it's proven that it's OK to let up a little. Nobody wants to get hurt, especially in Week 1 of the season (see Ravens on Thursday night).

The Chargers entered the week as 3-point favorites against the Raiders. Click here to see the latest odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.
