WHAT’S AT STAKE?

Ohio State should have a tougher time against Western Michigan than it did against Akron last week, when the Buckeyes started slowly but marched to a 52-6 victory. The Broncos looked good at times in their opening loss to Wisconsin, which was much closer than the final score of 28-14. The No. 2 Buckeyes will face a Mid-American Conference team for the second straight year and have another chance to prepare against Marshall before returning to Big Ten play at Michigan State on Sept. 28. Ohio State will look to iron out some of the mistakes in the passing game and get the offensive linemen working together better.

KEY GAME

Ohio State's passing game against Western Michigan's defense. The Broncos held the Badgers to 192 yards and just 5.3 yards per pass. Ohio State's passing attack, led by QB Will Howard, looked sluggish at times, but the Buckeyes' receivers are too good to go without for long.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Western Michigan: RB Jalen Buckley ran for 64 yards and two touchdowns against Wisconsin.

Ohio State: Freshman WR Jeremiah Smith had six catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns in his highly anticipated debut last week against Akron.
