Wear pink on Saturday to get a free Krispy Kreme

On Saturday, Krispy Kreme, the chain that can't seem to stop giving out free doughnuts, is giving away – you guessed it – free doughnuts.

This time, the free donuts are a celebration of Barbie's 65th birthday. Krispy Kreme and Mattel have teamed up to launch a collection of four Barbie-themed donuts to mark the doll's anniversary.

The donuts include the limited edition Barbie Pink Doughnut, Malibu Dream Party Doughnut, Barbie Berries 'n Kreme Doughnut and Barbie Sweet 65th Doughnut.

In addition to celebrating Barbie's anniversary with the limited edition doughnuts pictured above, Krispy Kreme is also giving away a free Original Glazed Doughnut to any customer dressed in pink at any participating Krispy Kreme store (including the drive-thru) on Saturday, September 7.

Announcing the Krispy Kreme and Barbie collaboration, Meredith Norrie, Mattel's vice president of global licensing and consumer products, said: “Barbie and Krispy Kreme are two brands that spark instant joy and evoke fond memories. As we celebrate Barbie's 65th anniversary this year, Krispy Kreme is the perfect partner for us, inviting fans of all generations to enjoy the perfect blend of taste and style, with a nod to Barbie in every bite.”

And although age is just a number, at 65, Barbie is still the younger brand for those who follow closely. The iconic doll was created by Ruth Handler in 1959. However, Krispy Kreme was founded 22 years earlier, in 1937, by Vernon Rudolph. That means Krispy Kreme turned 87 this year.
