Cam Rising injury update: Utah QB leaves game vs. Baylor with apparent hand injury

Cam rises went back to the dressing room with a towel around his hand during Saturday's game against Baylor. The Utah The quarterback ran to the sideline, was thrown into a water cooler on the way off the field and then walked to the medical tent.

Rising's injury occurred less than two minutes before the end of the second quarter. When he hit the ground, he immediately grabbed his hand and headed back to the locker room after being examined in the tent. KSLSports' Steve Bartle reported that it was possibly a finger injury on his throwing hand.

According to FOX Allison Williams said Kyle Whittingham Confirmed: Rising is battling a hand injury. His comeback is questionable and he was still in the locker room at the start of the third quarter.

“Cam Rising didn't come out of the locker room here at the start of the second half, and head coach Kyle Whittingham confirmed to me that it was a hand injury and called his return questionable,” Williams said. “I'll also tell you guys, I saw some blood on the towel that he had draped over his right hand when he went into the locker room.

“You felt it, there was a noticeable difference in this stadium when Cam got hurt, and Coach Whittingham acknowledged that. But he said we have to keep the guys that are here together and keep working. Just because he's gone, we can't give up everything. Isaac Wilson is supposed to dominate the offense, exude confidence and be a leader.”

At the time of his injury, Rising had completed 8 of 14 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Isaac Wilson came on for him as Utah went into halftime with a 23-3 lead.

Rising is in his seventh season of college football after missing the 2023 season due to his recovery from a serious knee injury. He didn’t waste much time in his season debut, throwing a 64-yard touchdown pass against Southern Utah in his first game since 2022.

Rising was unstoppable in that season-opening win, completing 10 of 15 passes for 254 yards and five touchdowns before handing the keys to Wilson for the 49-0 victory.
