Who is Aryna Sabalenka's boyfriend Georgios Frangulis?

As Aryna Sabalenka tries to return to the final of the US Open, her boyfriend Georgios Frangulis cheers her on.

“There was a really tough time where I was really glad to have him by my side. He always cheered me up and always made sure we did some fun things,” Sabalenka said. He comes from Brazil.

Born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, Frangulis' family is from Thessaloniki, Greece. He studied law at the Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP), but never graduated from the OAB [Brazilian Bar Association] exam. “I always knew I wasn't going to be a lawyer. I thought law was something that would help me in any field. Frangulis is a “spiritual” person.

“I go to church a lot, talking to God is good for me. I was influenced by both branches of the family. The spiritual side was always important to me – as was intuition,” he said. Forbes Brazil.

He founded Oakberry.

In 2016, Frangulis launched Oakberry, an açaí-based brand, and now has stores all over the world. In January 2024, Oakberry became one of Sabalenka's sponsors. “Most of the time I eat an Oakberry bowl. I think it's healthy and a good way to start the day,” she said. He was previously married.

In 2016, he married Isabella “Beh” Armentano, just months after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. It is unclear when they separated.

“I didn't tell anyone, but in August 2016 I found out I had thyroid cancer, a four-centimeter nodule that the doctor said needed to be removed to determine treatment,” Frangulis said. Forbes Brazil. “I got married on October 1, spent the last of my money on the wedding bar, had surgery on October 16 and was able to open the first Oak store in São Paulo on December 6 because some kind of divine ray hit me when I needed it most – and least expected it.”

Frangulis is a motorsport driver.

Frangulis will take part in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup in 2022.

He has participated in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge races. “It is not an easy task to be a driver in the midst of Oak’s rapid growth,” he said. “But the Porsche Cup races and training sessions almost always take place on weekends, so maintaining a routine of physical training in my daily life, in addition to psychological support to cope with the pressure, [therapy twice a week]I'm always prepared for the moment of driving. Getting in the car and racing is one of the few moments when nothing else matters.”
