Utah quarterback Cameron Rising left the game against Baylor in the first half with a hand injury. Rising went to the locker room and came out for the second half in civilian clothes with the two middle fingers of his throwing hand taped together.

Rising ran off the field while being pursued by a Baylor defender and attempted to throw the ball away. He lost control, ran into the sideline cooler and quickly grabbed his throwing hand. According to KSL, Rising's hand had to be x-rayed after the game.

Backup quarterback Isaac Wilson came in for Rising. The brother of former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson threw two interceptions in his first start against Southern Utah in Week 1. He was rated as the No. 21 quarterback overall and a four-star recruit in the class of 2024.

Rising missed the entire 2023 season due to a torn ACL. When Rising is on the roster, the Utes are one of the top programs in the country. Rising has a 20-5 record and two Pac-12 championships as a starting quarterback. In the first half against Baylor, he completed 8 of 14 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

Utah held Baylor to just 48 total yards in the first half, but a well-aimed call helped the Bears get a field goal to score points.

CBS Sports will update this story as more information becomes available about Rising's condition.
