Plans for Saban Field announced at Bryant-Denny Stadium inauguration

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – On Saturday, September 7, the University of Alabama will officially dedicate Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with pregame and halftime ceremonies and several memorabilia items to celebrate the occasion.

The University of Alabama Board of Trustees' Committee on Honorary Degrees and Recognition unanimously passed a resolution approving the naming on July 19. The Board of Trustees will formally adopt the resolution and present it to Saban at its September meeting later this week.

The first ceremony on Saturday is scheduled for approximately 2:30 p.m. CT and will take place at the beginning of the Walk of Champions on University Blvd., where stadium signage will be unveiled following remarks by University President Dr. Stuart R. Bell, Athletic Director Greg Byrne and former head football coach Nick Saban.

From there, the Sabans will walk the Walk of Champions and make their first trip to Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

At halftime of Saturday's game against South Florida, there will be an on-field tribute to the Sabans following a performance by the Million Dollar Band.

Gameday commemorative posters will be on display in Vector Security's Champions Lane on the northwest side of the stadium beginning at 1:30 p.m. CT while supplies last. Saban's national and SEC championship trophies will also be on display in Champions Lane.

A limited number of Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium Yeti tumblers will be sold in Champions Lane and at the game program stands outside the stadium. A newly designed Walk of Champions T-shirt featuring the Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium sign will be sold at the merchandise stands.

In addition, commemorative game programs will be offered throughout the stadium grounds and in the stadium itself, and commemorative tickets can be purchased after the game.
