Who is Alanna Gold, the new cast member of “Selling Sunset” season 8?

The office environment in Netflix's hit reality TV show Sell sunset can be pretty unforgiving, but newcomer Alanna Gold is ready for the spotlight. The model turned real estate agent made her debut on Sell sunset Season 8 and just hours after its release on September 6, she is already winning over her fans with her chic, professional look and her relatable reactions to the drama that reigns among the agents of the Oppenheim Group.

So who is this mysterious blonde who appears on the scene with a stylish wardrobe and a desert town? Read on to find out all about Sell sunset outstanding Alanna Gold.

Alanna Gold is a luxury real estate agent who grew up near Toronto, Canada.

Alanna Gold (née Whittaker), 32, grew up in Nobleton, a small town outside of Toronto, Canada. According to her LinkedIn profile, she attended Ontario Tech University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in health sciences. She also completed a digital marketing certificate from Cornell University in 2020.

She almost became a veterinarian before she was discovered as a model.

Talk to PEOPLE Ahead of the season 8 premiere, Alanna revealed that she could have taken a completely different career path. “I was originally studying veterinary medicine, so I went to university and was discovered in the middle of it as a model,” she told the outlet. “I took the opportunity because I'm actually allergic to animals, so that wasn't a good path for me.”

Looking back, the now real estate agent seems to understand that her career as a veterinarian was not meant for her (allergies aside). “The path I was on during my veterinary training is not the path I am on today. I am so grateful that I was thrown in a different direction,” she said.

In addition to her work as a real estate agent, Alanna continues to model and is managed by Miami agency CGM-Caroline Gleason Management. Alanna obtained her real estate license during the pandemic.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Alanna began her career in real estate in 2021, spending a few years at Westside Estate Agency before joining Oppenheim Group. In her preseason interview, she recalled that she decided to take the plunge into the business and get her real estate license during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“When everything shut down, I knew this was a great opportunity to get my license. So I really spent those months just studying and then getting my license and getting it,” she says. “When I started working in this industry, I really enjoyed it and realized I didn't want to go back to modeling. I really wanted to put all my time into real estate.”

Alanna married her husband Adam Gold in 2022.

In addition to many beautiful travel photos, Alanna's Instagram includes several loving tributes to her husband, Adam Gold. The couple and “best friends for life” got engaged in January 2019 and married in July 2022 at their Joshua Tree attraction, Pioneertown.

According to his Instagram bio, Adam currently works in hospitality as part of the private members club Living Room, which is opening this fall.

Alanna has a “deep connection” to the desert and owns Pioneertown.

Although she grew up in a small town in Canada, Alanna revealed in a PEOPLE In an interview, she said she has a “deep connection to the desert” that she shares with her husband, Adam. The couple took their love of California's deserts to the next level when they purchased Pioneertown, a “working” town in San Bernardino County near Joshua Tree National Park. According to the website, a group of former Hollywood actors (including Dick Curtis and Roy Rogers) founded the attraction in 1946 as a “filming location, vacation destination and permanent residence for people working in the entertainment industry, ranchers and desert lovers alike.” The town is currently home to several working 1880s-style businesses and fake facades, and there's even a staged gunfight on some summer weekends.

“[Adam and I] “We've always really loved it and in fact it was the place we took one of our first trips to,” Alanna said of Pioneertown. “We always knew we wanted to own some land there or be part of the community in some way.”

“It needed a lot of renovation and stuff, and we really wanted to bring it back to life. So it was this opportunity to bring it back to life,” she added.

When asked if she would ever sell the property, Alanna told the outlet, “It's very special and an opportunity that I don't think will ever come around again. I think it's something we would hold on to. We really love being a part of the desert out there.”

Alanna's family encouraged her to participate in Selling Sunset.

If the opportunity arises to become a member Sell sunsetAlanna remembers that she jumped at the opportunity, although she was naturally “a little hesitant” about the big change in her life. She said PEOPLE about her decision: “I went through all kinds of emotions, but at the end of the day I thought to myself, 'What is life for?' Just go out there and take the opportunities that come your way.”

Luckily, she also had the support of her husband and the rest of her family, with Adam being a source of calm throughout the process. “He was very helpful throughout the whole process and I think he was actually a reason why I felt very confident that I could do it. I knew I had his support and I knew we were a team through everything,” she said.

When filming began, her new co-stars Chrishell Stause and Mary Bonnet Fitzgerald were especially “nice” to her, according to Alanna.

Gold hints at the drama in season 8, saying she handled it in a way she's “proud” of, as she came into the show with an “open mind.” She added, “I made a promise to myself to stay true to myself and really stand up for the things I believe in, but also not get involved in things that don't concern me.”
