Tyreek Hill of the Dolphins arrested for traffic violation, will play

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was arrested by police outside Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday for a traffic violation, but has been released from custody, the team said.

The traffic accident occurred about a block from the stadium, the team said. Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer help, the team said.

Hill is available for the season's opening game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team said.

Sources told ESPN's Jeff Darlington that Hill was stopped for speeding, then got into a verbal altercation with police and was handcuffed.

Darlington sources said Hill was charged with reckless driving.

In an interview with ESPN, Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus called the situation “heartbreaking” and “completely unnecessary.” He said he wanted to make sure his client was not mistreated and that it was “unbelievable” to see his client in handcuffs.

“We'll investigate,” Rosenhaus said. “We'll keep an eye out for Tyreek.”

He added that he was “just thankful that Tyreek is OK” and thanked the team for helping de-escalate the situation.

Early Sunday, a video emerged showing Hill being handcuffed while surrounded by several police officers.

ESPN's Adam Schefter contributed to this report.
